The Crossing Cultures study takes an intercultural approach to the analysis of common and mutual cultural references shared by the German, Italian and French people in areas such as architectural, historical, literary, cinematographic, theatrical and musical heritage, as well as popular cultural references or figures. Polling 4,500 people across the three countries, this survey is original in scope and content: it seeks to survey the common foundation of cultures within Europe, the foundation of a European culture or of the European identity through culture. The results confirm a correlation between knowledge and educational level, and also highlight the per- sistence of national stereotypes and the lack of any genuine common culture. Nevertheless, the existence of several very widely shared transnational references demonstrates that interculturality, which presupposes a knowledge of other peoples, is not entirely out of reach. The study encourages us to reassess the aims, methods and tools of European interculturality. |

L��etude Cultures crois�ees analyse les r�ef�erences culturelles communes et r�eciproques une approche de l�interculturalit�e des Allemands, des Italiens et des Fran�cais en mati�ere de patrimoine architectural, historique, litt�eraire, cin�ematographique, th�e�atral et lyrique et sur des r�ef�erences ou des figures de la culture populaire. Conduite aupr�es de 4 500 personnes dans les trois populations, cette enqu�ete, in�edite dans son domaine et par son ampleur, cherche �a sonder le fondement commun des cultures en Europe, d�une culture europ�eenne ou de l�identit�e culturelle europ�eenne par la culture. Les r�esultats confirment la corr�elation des connaissances et du niveau d��education, mettent en �evidence la pr�egnance des st�er�eotypes sur les peuples et l�absence d�une v�eritable culture commune. L�existence de quelques r�ef�erences transnationales massivement partag�ees montre n�eanmoins que l�interculturalit�e, qui suppose la connaissance des autres peuples, n'est pas hors de port�ee. L��etude invite �a repenser objectifs, m�ethodes et outils de l�interculturalit�e europ�eenne. |
